Build it step by step

Give every responsibility an owner.

Start with the work your company needs, then decide who is accountable for it.

01

Map ownership

Record the legal owners, ownership percentages, capital contributions, and how major decisions will be approved. Keep the entity’s governing documents consistent.

02

Define operating roles

List sales, customer service, delivery, finance, administration, and people management. One person may hold several roles at first.

03

Set authority limits

Write who can sign contracts, approve expenses, issue refunds, access bank accounts, and hire staff. A job title alone does not establish all legal authority.

04

Create a role card

For each role, record its purpose, recurring tasks, decision limits, reporting line, and backup contact. Review access when a person changes roles.
